Το πρωί της περασμένης Τρίτης κυκλοφόρησαν οι υποψηφιότητες για τα Βραβεία Oscars 2022, με πολλούς θιασώτες του κουτσομπολιού για διασημότητες να έχουν εμπλακεί σε παθιασμένο debate για το ποια από τις πρωτοεμφανιζόμενες αστέρες θα τσιμπήσει το Oscar. Οι εν λόγω κουτσομπόληδες θαυμαστές συνέχισαν να διαβάζουν τη λίστα των υποψηφίων, μένοντας εν συνεχεία άφωνοι από την απουσία της Lady Gaga. Η διάσημη τραγουδίστρια και πρωταγωνίστρια της ταινίας House of Gucci του μεγίστου Ridley Scott, απέσπασε μια υποψηφιότητα στην κατηγορία Πρώτου Γυναικείου Ρολού στις Χρυσές Σφαίρες, στα βραβεία Screen Actors Guild και στα Βραβεία BAFTA. Εντούτοις, τη σνόμπαραν στην πιο σημαντική τελετή απονομής όλων, τα Oscars 2022.
Όταν η σταρ δεν άκουσε το όνομά της να διαβάζεται δυνατά την Τρίτη στις υποψηφιότητες, δήλωσε τα εξής: "Σε όλους τους υποψήφιους φέτος, συγχαρητήρια για όλη τη σκληρή δουλειά, την αφοσίωσή σας, την υποψηφιότητά σας και τη μαγεία ΣΑΣ -- όλοι σας αξίζετε μεγάλη αναγνώριση για την διαμόρφωση του υπέροχου τοπίου ερμηνειών και προσωπικών επιτευγμάτων της περασμένης χρονιάς."
